The SmartToll® system uses inductive loops to detect and collect magnetic signatures of vehicles, which is representative of the vehicle’s magnetic profile. The information gathered from the loops is used to separate vehicles, count vehicle axles, and measure vehicle speed & length. The vehicle can then be classified very accurately on the basis of this information.
SmartToll utilizes Idris® technology developed by Diamond Consulting Services, enabling the system to properly detect lane changing, lane straddling, and overtaking vehicles (in multilane situations). It can also distinguish between tailgating vehicles, vehicles towing, sense vehicle reversals, and handle reversible lanes without double-counting or missing vehicles.
Accurate trigger outputs (front and/or rear trigger) to an external VES system are available allowing system violators to be captured. SmartToll provides a robust and reliable solution for operation in all weather conditions and in extreme environments. Correctly installed, SmartToll can operate up to 10 years, requiring minimal maintenance, resulting in very low cost of ownership compared to other technologies. SmartToll is a cost-effective, proven product currently yielding excellent results in incident detection and tolling worldwide.
